Application Info & Costs
To apply to Volunteer South Africa please check your eligibility and then follow the simple steps below. Applications must be made to BUNAC no less than ten weeks before the intended UK departure date..
Eligibility
To apply to Volunteer South Africa, you must be:
- A British or Irish passport holder, resident in the UK or Ireland.
- Aged at least 18
- Adventurous, flexible, a good communicator, confident and outgoing
- Wildlife programme applicants must have an environmental background (work or study).
1: Send the following application documents to BUNAC:
- Downloaded application form (including additional information sheet)
- Your current CV
- Copy of your passport and birth certificate
- Four passport photos
- 2 completed references
- Refundable £405 programme deposit (includes £5 BUNAC membership fee)
The balance will be due eight weeks before the departure date. If you are submitting your application within 12 weeks of the departure date, you must send the full programme cost straight away with your initial application.
2: Attend an Orientation Interview to discuss all aspects of the programme ensuring that you are fully prepared for your trip. Following a satisfactory interview, BUNAC will formally accept you onto the programme.
3: BUNAC will liaise with our local partner to begin arranging your placement. We will also help you with the following:
- Applying for a Police Check.
- Completing a Medical form: All participants are required to visit their GP to discuss their trip. BUNAC will provide a specific medical form which must be completed by the participant and their doctor prior to travel
- Booking Flights: We can arrange group or individual flights to suit your needs.
- Buying Insurance: We will send you full details regarding the levels of cover we provide.
