BUNAC Honorary Officers 2007/8
BUNAC is a club. BUNAC members annually elect three Honorary Officers to represent the views of the membership on BUNAC’s governing body, the General Council. If you wish to comment on BUNAC programmes or on any aspect of BUNAC’s operation, the officers can be contacted at the e-mail addresses below. No other organisation in the work abroad field offers such an opportunity for input to its participants and potential participants.
Please note. The officers are not employees of BUNAC and are not experts on programmes. Routine queries about programmes or about the progress of an application should be addressed to enquiries@bunac.org.uk
Honorary Chairperson: Alexander ('Sandy') Robertson
Sandy is currently in his fourth year of university and is undergoing his clinical placement in Manchester. Sandy is getting used to living down South as it’s easier to travel down to London for BUNAC meetings! Sandy has been to the same summer camp in the Pocconno Mountains in Pennsylvania for the last three years. He teaches mainly swimming and climbing and also human biology in a science camp. After returning from his first summer away, he became involved with BUNAC as a campus rep and took the opportunity to join the National Committee before taking up the post of Honorary Treasurer and now Honorary Chairperson of the Club.
Working with BUNAC has given Sandy many great experiences from making great friends at camp to confirming his goal of becoming a paediatrician. Working on the General Council has allowed Sandy to focus on his studies while gaining a great insight into the business world and a chance to improve his organisational and team leading skills.

Honorary Treasurer: Catherine Maguire
Catherine is a 4th year medical student at the University of Sheffield, undergoing clinical placements in and around South Yorkshire. After an amazing summer in 2005 on a summer camp in Maine, Catherine got involved with BUNAC back in the UK, taking on the roles of campus rep and National Committee representative for the North East of England. She then became a Student Marketing Co-ordinator and Honorary Secretary in 2006/7. Catherine will continue her duties as Honorary Secretary this year.
Due to a lack of long university summers, Catherine was unable to return to camp this year, however, she did manage to fit in a trip to Argentina in April 2007 and will be travelling to Bolivia in the summer of 2008 to take up a medical placement. Catherine loves being involved with BUNAC and has met a lot of like-minded people, many of whom are now lifelong friends. She also finds great satisfaction in persuading as many people as possible to have similar worthwhile experiences overseas just as she has.

Honorary Secretary: Alasdair Wallace
Alasdair is currently in his fourth and final year at St Andrews University where he is studying International Relations and Social Anthropology. He first got involved with BUNAC this year when he spent the summer working at Camp Connri in Connecticut. As a result of his participation on the programme, Alasdair can safely say his life has changed. Not only has he been bitten by the travel bug but he’s also met and lived with people from all over the world.
Alasdair will be bringing a lot of relevant experience to the position of Honorary Secretary including the skills he has learnt in his current position as secretary on the broadcasting sub committee of his University Student Association. He also intends to develop greater knowledge of the intricacies of the business world.
