Travel

You have the flexibility to make your own travel arrangements and should find transatlantic flights surprisingly affordable. To help you find the best fares, BUNAC has set up special arrangements with specialist student travel companies for Intern in Britain participants from the US. Call BUNAC on 1-800-462-8622 for further information.

Participants must book a flight to London as this is the location of the mandatory arrival orientation. Your UK entry and exit dates will be specified on your visa. It is not possible to extend this visa.

Getting About

While working, you will no doubt want to take advantage of the weekends and see as much of the country as possible. You may also wish to venture further afield into mainland Europe (subject to local visa requirements). You can cover a lot of ground in a few days! Within Britain, rail is the most comfortable and punctual way to travel and buses offer a cheaper but often slower option. There are also lots of budget tour companies offering low cost, fun, adventure trips around Britain. More information on travel can be found in the program Handbook and will be available at the orientation.
